Quick Tip #0019

Come in early and stay late.

It’s as simple as that. It’s good to have the flexibility to stay late or come early. Maybe there’s a meeting or a project that’s starting earlier, your company will know you’re an option if they need to ask someone to come in to assist. And it shows your enthusiasm to work there.

Don’t be the last to arrive and the first to leave.

  1. Hi Katie,

I want to suggest two caveats to this tip. One, don’t just come in 5 minutes before everyone else and leave 5 minutes early. That can rub a lot of people the wrong way and make you look like you are just trying to brown nose. Second, make sure the extra time you are spending at work is productive. Again, if you come in early but don’t actually accomplish anything people may take it the wrong way!
