This seems very silly to even point out, but there are a lot of situations where people miss out on opportunities because they didn’t take notes. Take notes in interviews, informational meetings, work meetings, team meetings, after networking events, at conferences… There’s an endless amount of place to take notes from. I find it most important to take notes in interviews, informational meetings and after networking events. Those are the places where bringing a notebook can be forgotten. By the time you get home to write down the notes the details won’t be as clear in your memory. I’ve also had great feedback when attending an interview or informational meeting with the intention to take notes. People are impressed by such a little gesture because not many people do it anymore.
